Overview

Each summer Hockey Ministries International hosts over 2000 hockey hungry youth at Christian Hockey Camps International. HMI is a registered Christian charity in Canada and the USA and is committed to presenting the message of hope that is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Year after year, around the globe, returning attendees rave that camp is the highlight of their summer and a "would not miss"experience. Many campers also carry on to become counsellors and instructors.

Geared for boys and girls of all skill levels, age 9-17, CHC provides a world class, on ice program which is directed and overseen by a caring staff in a fun and high energy atmosphere. Each camp provides an engaging and well organized regimen, designed to challenge kids in body, mind and spirit with a solid Christian message.

Camps are approximately one week in length and are organized and operated as...

  • LIVE-IN CAMPS (sleep over)
  • DAY CAMPS
  • MIXED (boys and girls)
  • BOYS ONLY
  • GIRLS ONLY

We believe that it's one thing to play the game, but quite another to play for purpose, to play with passion and to PLAY INSPIRED.

Individual Skills
Each player is refreshed on the basics and challenged to implement various practice techniques.

Team Skills
Offensive and defensive positional play is emphasized. Each player is an integral part of a whole team, and is given the opportunity to practice positional play.

Goaltenders
Each camp has a qualified goaltending instructor. A limited number of goalies ensures specialized training for each net minder. Register early!

Off Ice Program

Dry-land Training
The Dry-land Training program starts prior to camp with a "Pre-camp conditioning" schedule that is provided to all registrants 4 weeks prior to camp. Developing power, strength, agility and endurance are the highlights of our Dry-land program. We believe in teaching and demonstrating proven techniques so that they can be applied after camp. This training will help the players maximize their potential and enable them to be highly effective on the ice.

Sports/Recreation
Cross-training is critical for the refined development of an athlete. Campers will enjoy sports such as swimming, soccer, basketball and floor hockey in a fun and competitive atmosphere.

Christian Training
Combining high quality hockey instruction and practical training in Christian living has proven to be a winning combination in preparing young athletes for challenges, both on and off the ice. Each day, the devotional introduces the "game plan" for the day - a theme from the Hockey Player's Handbook. Each day,  counselors encourage players to strive to be the best they can, on and off the ice, focusing on some solid, eternal values and principles found in the Bible. Finally, the evening chapel features a youth-oriented program of music, skits and inspirational talks by the pros.

Staff

Counselors
All counselors at our camps are volunteers.  Our staff at each camp are carefully screened and are well equipped. CHC takes the trust of players and parents seriously. Our goal is to provide a positive, growing experience for each player.

Instructors
Christian Hockey Camps International have many gifted instructors who come from a wide variety of hockey backgrounds. They include current and former NHL players, AHL, Minor Pro, European, and Universtiy level players and coaches. They volunteer their time because they believe in the program and enjoy working with the campers.
