We all Fail....God gave us a way Out!

    January 2, 2013

Watch this Video from a few years ago:

This is not the first time this happened in hockey history, nor will it be the last. We all know of a situation like this, perhaps none more famous than Steve Smith scoring on his own goal in Edmonton. Just heartbreaking. Perhaps it is crazy of us, but we enjoy watching the reactions of all these bloopers and mistakes. When you watch the reactions of all the videos of this type out there, you will always see heartbreak, embarrassment, shame, confusion, and the adjectives will go on and on. Now, let's step out of hockey for just a second. These same feelings follow us when mistakes come in all aspects of our life. We don't mean to mess up, but as humans, we usually do. It's just part of who we are. No matter how hard we try, at some point, we will experience the humiliation, shame, embarrassment and so much more when we sin against our Heavenly Father. We will feel like those poor players in YouTube videos across the net. We will want to run and hide never to be seen again.

BUT God sent His Son for Us

But God are such great words in the English Language. They are great words for us because they let us know that guilt and shame are not the final answer. Those words show us that God has provided a different way, a different path for us to take. God sent His one and only Son so that we don't have to be crushed by the guilt and shame of making mistakes. In Christ, there is life, there is hope, there is forgiveness. The real questions become:
    1. Do you have Christ in your Life?
    2. Do you run from Him and try to hide when mistakes come?

The first question is an easy fix. Simply ask him to be a part of your life. Admit your mistakes and turn to walk with him. Let him be Lord of your life and He will save you from your sins. The second question is much more difficult to tackle. Think about how you answered the question and ask yourself "WHY" you keep trying to run from God everytime you make a mistake. Remember, Christ has already died for ALL of your mistakes and sins. He has already paid for them. You can't avoid God until you clean yourself up enough, it just won't work. The only way to shed those feelings of shame and guilt is to run TOWARD God when things don't go so well. He is the only one with the power to forgive us in Christ!
