The New Year is more than a fresh calendar, it’s another reminder of the deeper truth of our faith, in Christ, we are made new!
As the New Year begins, we’re invited to step forward with renewed hearts, renewed purpose, and renewed trust in God. On the ice and in everyday life, these five Bible verses point us toward the new life we have in Him:
1. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
The New Year reflects what God has already done through Christ. Our past mistakes, disappointments, or failures do not define us. In Jesus, the old is gone and the new has come.
2. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” — Isaiah 43:18
Every season includes both victories and challenges. God calls us not to live looking backward, but to trust Him with what lies ahead. The New Year is an invitation to release what was and embrace what God is doing now.
3. “Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”— Lamentations 3:22–23
Each day is a fresh gift of grace. Just as every practice and game offers another chance to grow, God meets us daily with mercy that never runs out. His faithfulness carries us through every high and low.
4. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
New life in Christ begins on the inside. As this year starts, we ask God to renew our hearts, attitudes, and desires. When He shapes us from within, our actions begin to reflect His love and character.
5. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3
As we enter a new year, we place our goals, seasons, and plans into God’s hands. When we commit everything to Him, He gives direction and purpose.
