We don't know what the Future Holds

    November 29, 2012

Everyday presents a new challenge and I don’t know what tomorrow holds… But I do know who holds tomorrow and that’s My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ -- Savario Posa

Hockey is an absolutely awesome game. There is nothing like lacing up the skates, taping the twig, and strapping on the pads to go out and play a game with some friends. The thrill of scoring a goal, a big save, or even a big hit is unmatched by any other sport. The game of hockey moves so fast and is so entertaining, we wonder how anybody would want to play anything else! No matter what you like, hockey has it. Big hits: Check. Speed: Check. Flashy Goals: Check. Smooth Stickhandling: Check. And the list could go on and on.

But, not every part of hockey is always so much fun. As Savario says, "everyday presents a new challenge..." It may be fine today, but we never know what tomorrow will bring. The wonderful game of hockey can bring many difficult challenges. Maybe you find yourself not playing as much as you would like. Maybe you are in a scoring slump. Maybe you have just been cut from a team. Maybe you are feeling pressured by your teammates and parents to do more than you can do. Whatever the situation may be, at some point or another we find ourselves in difficult circumstances.

    The Good News
The Good News is that we have someone who controls the future. Someone who knows what is going to happen and has our best interest in mind. We may never know why something is happening or where we will end up, but we can be confident that a trusted Friend has us in His grips and is looking out for us. That person is Jesus Christ. He loves us with an unseparable love (Romans 8:38-39). He has experienced life and its challenges just like us (Heb. 4:15). He knows you from the inside out (Psalm 139)

When we don't know what tomorrow holds, let's remember that we can always turn to the One who holds tomorrow in His hand. The one who holds us in His hand.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. -- 1 Pet. 5:7
